Thistle is one of my favorite motifs because of its spiky shape.
It gives me a kind of Goth feel, especially when it's made of oxidized silver and polished.
This finish shows you the details of the texture and engravings that give you a dark and wild feel.
And it also demonstrates that the piece is made with a lot of care and skill.
Another point of this piece is the flowers.
They are round-cut amethysts That are set vertically to express the the wild beauty of two thistle blooms.
To do this, I designed special calyxes.
A pair of faceted round amethysts nestled within intricately detailed silver calyxes, their rich purple hue creating a stunning contrast against the darkened metal.
I heard the thistle is the national flower of Scotland, and you know the episode.
